I read The Sun (May 21) with interest and amusement on the Malay translation of " Furry Vengeance." It is translated ( 'menterjemah' ) as ' Balas Dendam Berbulu.' My goodness! How can he or she still be on the payroll. This bring to mind on the emails I have read on the Malay translation of computer terms. Please bear in mind that it is not the wrong translation by anyone. It is meant for a good laugh to lighten up our boring mundane life. A big 'thank you' to the person who thinks up of this translation to give us a good laugh for laughter is the best medicine.

GHOST STORIES PART III

Again this ghost story was related to me when I was a young boy in primary school. I liked to hear ghost stories especially late at night and my good mother always hurried me to sleep early. But I was eager to hear late night ghost stories.

Three buddy friends from Senggarang rode their Scramblers to Batu Pahat for a mid-night show. They have not been to town for months. It was a good movie called Thirteen Ghosts in 3-D. The movie-goers were each given a pair of special cheap paper spectacles which they can retain it.

After the show they rode back home. But mid-way home they saw a brightly lit hawker centre. One of the friend suggested, " Hey! There is a new Hawker Centre not far from the main road. It
looks inviting. Shall we stop by for sup?" The decision was unanimous. They went in. All stalls were teaming with customers for their late night supper or rather very early morning breakfast.
The three buddy friends have fried noodles. After their meals they exclaimed in unison, " It was
delicious. Shall we come tomorrow night? OK."

They rode straight home. As soon as they reached their respective homes they vomited. Out came earthworms, grasshoppers, crickets,termites, ants, centipedes and earth. What an awful
sight! The non-stop vomiting and diarrhea made them dehydrated and weak. An ambulance arrived to send them to Batu Pahat General Hospital. Anti-biotic jab was given to each of them.
When they recovered and able to talk coherently the attending doctor inquired on the cause or the food they have eaten. They related the incident to the doctor who replied that there was no
such hawker centre there as the doctor passed by that stretch of road everyday. That area was a cementry.

Ghost Stories Part 2

This is another story that I heard when I was a young boy. Most ghost stories begin after mid-night. This is no exception.Eeeeeeeh........

One cold eerie night with the chilly wind blowing and the incessant howling of dogs was heard distinctly. (My hair stood on ends when I a small boy then, heard the beginning of the story with added special effects and dramatic actions provided by the many uncles and aunts).

The grandfather clock struck one, 'tong.' It was one o'clock in the morning. A taxi driver on the way home drove past a cemetery. A young beautiful lady completely in black with a baby in her arms, waved for the taxi to stop. The taxi driver asked for the destination and the fare was quoted and agreed upon. She entered the taxi with the baby in her arms. After travelling for about 4 miles, she asked to stop as she wanted to powder her nose. She passed her baby to the taxi driver to take charge as she ran towards the winding narrow path to do her business.

The cab driver waited and waited and the baby seemed to get heavier and heavier. It has been more than half an hour with no sign of the young lady. He called up but no reply. The tiny baby
felt stone-cold and heavy. He looked down at the still baby. To his horror the baby in his arms had into a tomb stone. Instinctively, he wanted to throw it down. But he wouldn't believe his eyes. He checked and checked to make sure the baby is still there. No, his eyes did not play tricks on him. He was not seeing things. It was real. The baby had turned into a tomb stone......

When I was a young boy I liked to hear ghost stories. It was really scary tales for kids of 8 years of age. Let us start with one:-

It was after the mid-night show. The air was cold and chilly and dogs were howling. Ah Leong headed straight home on his 250 cc Suzuki. He lived 12 km from town and had to pass by a Chinese cemetery. Along the way, a young gorgeous lady in white waved to hitch a ride. Ah Leong, a bachelor stopped and pick her and carried on the journey. About 2 km farther, the lady in white tapped on his shoulder telling him that she felt cold. Ah Leong passed his expensive jacket to protect her from the cold. Another kilometre down the road she signalled him to stop. She then alighted from the bike and ran down the narrow winding path and disappeared into the darkness.

Early next morning, Ah Leong went to look for the lady in white. After much enquiry, he managed to locate a small hut. He knocked and the door was opened. He was greeted by a
hunchback old gentle lady. He asked for the beautiful lady in white. The old woman answered
that she lived alone. He refused to believe. But then a portrait of the young lady in the same white dress hung from the front wall caught his eyes. He pointed at the portrait. The old but gentle lady explained that the young lady in the portrait was her favourite granddaughter who
passed away last year and yesterday was her first death anniversary. As she related the story of how her granddaughter died tears filled her eyes. Ah Leong still did not believe her story.

The old woman brought him to her granddaughter's tomb. On the tomb stone hung Ah Leong's expensive jacket....

A Court Case - Mamak V.S. Juswant Singh

You all have read my blog on an ancient Chinese story called Clever Kam Lor. Now, follow me to a story closer to home in modern times. Let's begin.....

A not so long time ago, there lived a Punjabi in Malaysia. His father called him Juswant Singh because he was the only boy in the family. Juswant Singh was loved by everyone who knew him. He used to frequent the friendly Mamak store for his lunch and ordered his usual roasted whole chicken. Since he was well liked by everyone, he had became a good friend of the Mamak.

One day he visited his friendly Mamak store. On seeing Juswant Singh, the friendly Mamak
yelled, " Juswant, the usual?" " The usual." echoed Juswant.

The meal was served. Juswant enjoyed the roasted chicken and burped. He called for the bill and the bill came. As he reached for his wallet, to his horror and bewilderment the wallet was
not in his pocket. It then dawned upon him that on his way here, a dirty looking chap bumped
into him; that fellow must have picked pocket him.

Juswant Singh explained his predicament to his friendly Mamak. " No problem." exclaimed the friendly Mamak and proceeded to jot down the amount owing into his 'buku tiga lima'( this
is a pocket account booklet keeping outstanding debts).

From then onwards, Juswant Singh never step foot on the Mamak store. Mamak cursed the day Juswant was born. He couldn't believe that the well-liked Juswant would conned him of
RM 20.00. "It is so unbecoming of Juswant ." he thought.

Two years passed by and Juswant Singh dropped by his friendly Mamak store. All his friends enquired of his sudden disappearance. " Oh! I went to India to seek my fortune. I made a couple
of millions in USD," responded Juswant joyfully. Since he missed Mamak's roasted chicken, he ordered double portions. That mouth-watering and piping hot dish was served at the speed of light. Juswant consumed the two roasted chicken in no time and asked for the bill. To his consternation, the bill totalled RM 24,000.00.

The friendly Mamak patiently explained to Juswant that 2 years ago he had eaten a roasted chicken and failed to pay. Juswant retorted, "The meal I had only cost RM 20.00, with compounded interests, it won't cost more that RM 30.00." Mamak answered back, "The roasted chicken you had eaten two years ago, if you have not eaten it, it could have laid hundreds of eggs and hatched into chicks. These hundreds of chicks in turn grow up into mother hens and lay eggs and hatch into chicks. The process goes on and on and on. So RM 24,000.00 is just a conservative figure, it could more. Because of friendship I charge you only RM 24,000.00."

Naturally, Juswant refused to settle such a big amount and Mamak sued him. On the appointed day and time, Juswant came late rushing into the courtroom, apologized profusely to the judge.

The honorable judge asked, " Juswant, 2 years ago you had eaten a roasted chicken from Mamak. So if you have not eaten the roasted chicken, it could have laid eggs and hatched into
chicks and these chicks in turn laid more eggs and hatch into more chicks. What have you got to say."

Juswant answered, "Your Honour, Would you like to know the reason I attend court late?Well,
last season, I roasted some wheat seeds and later sowed the seeds. This morning I harvested the wheat and made into chapati for breakfast."

The judge retorted angrily, "How can roasted wheat seeds grow into wheat?"

Juswant answered meekly, "Mamak's roasted chicken can lay eggs!!!!...

Clever Kam Lor - Part 2

The general dragged his feet , walking slowly out of the Imperial Court in deep thoughts. He felt sad, very sad, very very sad. " When the 3-month time frame is up, I will be history. My family will miss me dearly. How can a cockerel lay eggs! Yes, I want to live! Most of all, I want see Kam Lor grow up to be a great general like me. I want to teach him all the military strategies that I know. Ok, I better escape with my family to a small village and change my identity. " he thought.

Instead of riding on his old faithful, he walked with him, " Oh! My White Beauty, we have fought battles together and I am not going to be separated from you just like that. I 'll rather die in a great battle." he whispered to his faithful horse.

Just as he took his last step out of the main gate of the Imperial Court, there was a terrible storm with lightning and thunder and rain pouring down in torrents. It seemed even heaven
also wept for him. It was dreadful! But he was oblivious of the thunder storm, as he took the long walk back home or it seemed long as the journey on horseback usually takes him about five minutes. When he reached home, it was sunset, a 2-hour journey!

He was completely drenched. He cleaned and dressed as a general would. Afterwards he hugged his grandson and his wife tightly but the look on his face betrayed his predicament.His good wife enquired on the outcome of the court proceedings and he related the entire episode to her. She, being virtuous and upright, advised him not to escape but to face the situation like a general.

Days, weeks and months passed by swiftly. It seemed only yesterday. A decision day or rather doom day. They have the last Family Reunion Breakfast together. He discussed the role and duties of the Lord of the House and bequeathed his authority to his eldest son. As the general got ready to face the ultimatum like a general faces an impossible battle, Kam Lor called, " Ah Kong! Ah Kong! Kam Lor will attend Court on your behalf. I ' ll tell the emperor that my Ah Kong is indisposed."

The Imperial Court was called to order by the Royal Adviser. And there on the seat of the great and mighty general sat tiny, little Kam Lor. " Who are you, my little one?" thundered the
emperor. Kam Lor answered bravely but courteously, " May Your Majesty live a million years? I am Kam Lor, the youngest grandson of the great and mighty general at Your Majesty Service."

The emperor demanded, "Why is your grandfather?" Kam Lor answered in a sweet innocent voice, " He is at home recuperating as he has given birth to a baby boy early this morning."
"How dare you tell a lie! How can a man give birth! Only women give birth" the emperor raised his voice. Kam Lor again in his sweet innocent voice answered confidently."A thousand apologies, your servant deserves death. But Your Masjesty, nowadays a man can give birth because cockerel can lay eggs!"

The emperor exclaimed, " Clever! Very clever! My clever Kam Lor, China is blessed to have you.Your Ah Kong has taught you well. Now send your Ah Kong here as I'll bestow him with the highest award for bringing up such a brilliant boy. And you Kam Lor, will serve me as my personal Royal Assistant."

1. There were 3 p0liticians gathered together at a high-class restaurant. They discussed their secrets and promised not to reveal to anyone, not even to their wives.

1st politician: During the tsunami raised fund, I embezzled more than $10 millions for my family.

2nd politician: That is nothing. I mis-appropriated more than $ 2o millions from the earthquake fund for my mistress.

2. There were 3 priests discussing on their private lives:

1st priest: I have known both of you since primary school.
Both of you were sincere and honest. With our
priestly allowance/salary, how can, you my
friend afford a Camry and you, drive a Mercedes
S Class? How do both of you manage that ?

2nd priest: You want to know how I got a Camry? Very
simple. Since we are priests, we believe in God.
So I asked God, " God,the donations for the
monthly expenses for the needy, as a head priest am I entitled to
part of it? If you agree, I' ll draw a BIG circle
and I' ll then stand in the middle of it. Then I' ll
throw all the donations up high into the sky, the
money that falls inside the BIG circle belongs to
me, and those that landed outside the BIG circle
belong to God." That is how I manage to
drive a Camry.

3rd priest: Since God is in Heaven
above, every month I throw the donation money
up into the sky. " God, this is your money, take
it. If you think I deserve it, then return to me."
Every month, God never fails me. He always says
I deserve it. This how I drive a Mercedes S Class.

Clever Kam Lor - Part 1

Today I wish to share with you an ancient story as told by my lovely mother to me when I was a little boy......

Once upon a time, in a Hokkien Province of ancient China, there lived a great and mighty general.

He lived in a huge mansion with a small orchard of Mandarin oranges surrounded by a beautiful
garden of roses and peonies.

One fine Spring morning, his youngest pretty and demure daughter-in-law was enjoying herself eating oranges, singing and dancing around the roses and peonies. Suddenly, she went into labour. A baby boy was born! The great general named his grandson, "Kam Lor" ( since his grandson was born in the orchard of Mandarin oranges and "Kam" means Mandarin oranges in Chinese.)

From a very young age, Kam Lor was tutored by the great teachers of China in Chinese Literature and Calligraphy. He was also trained in martial arts and archery by the grand masters
of the ancient arts of self-defence in a temple. As the result, Kam Lor grew up into a fine lad skilled in kongfu and archery and well versed in Chinese Literature and Calligraphy.

The general with the Imperial Army at his command, managed to make China a powerful and feared nation on land as well as 0n seas. So China enjoyed peace and prosperity for decades.
The emperor became bored. Nothing exciting happened. Then the emperor summoned the great and mighty general to the Imperial Court and demanded:

Emperor: You are my No.1 general. You have conquered , captured foreign land and extended
my territory in my name. You have done a magnificent job. Nothing is impossible for
you.

General : Yes, Your Majesty. Nothing is impossible. May Your Majesty live a million years?

Emperor: Now, I have a small task for you. Get me a cockerel's egg.

General : May Your Majesty live a million years? Hen's egg I can get for you. How can I get a
cockerel's egg?

Emperor : You are a mighty and awesome general. You have achieved impossible tasks which
other generals failed. Hence searching for an egg, a cockerel's egg is a small job to you.
Just one small egg will do. I give you 3 months. If you fail, your head will be chopped
off. You are dismissed now.

I am taking this mini challenge by Princess Sabrina on the topic

Fame Vs Fortune

I think I will choose FAME because I believe FORTUNE will soon follow FAME !

For eg. Suki (Winner of One In A Million - Malaysia Reality Show).
Once she won the title (Fame), she won RM1 million (Fortune). Instant Millionaire and she is only17 years old!
The cycle just go on & on. She became famous and more offers, money , fortune coming her way...

Another example is Lee Jun Ki (age 27, Korean actor, dancer, model). He became famous (Fame)
in Korean Movie (The King & The Clown). Offers rolling in to him for commercial ads, dramas etc with blank cheques for him to fill in the amount... (Fortune)

The important factor to remember is: you must know how to maximise your fame for fortune and for good!

The above just 2 examples from Asia. What about all the American Idols with their fame and fortune... Fortune just smiling and rolling onto their laps.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all sons & daughters,

Love your mother. Mothers love their children unconditionally, sacrificing for the children's happiness. A poor hungry mother will ensure that her child has his fills first before satisfying her own hunger. So one needs to show and appreaciate one's love for mother not only on mother' day

but also everyday. Tell her you like her cooking. Tell her she is gorgeous, she is the most beautiful

mother in the world. I love you, mum.

Nothing can come close to the love that a mother feels for her children. Remember, love and

education begins the moment you are formed inside her. A mother will sing and talk to you when you are just an embryo inside her womb. Even when you become a parent your mother still loves you always.

Now, ahem! I want to give you a simple test to prove how much you love your mum. Okay? Let's begin:-

You and your girl friend ( boy friend, if you are a girl ) are in a boat together with your mother. Suddenly, the boat capsized.... Who are you going to save? Without thinking, mum of course. You

have only ONE MOTHER. You can easily have another new girl friend ( boy friend ). If the other

one is your spouse, remember your mother will definitely sacrifice herself by asking you to save

your spouse.

A mother puts her children before anything else, including her own comfort happiness and life.

As for me I will save myself first......My wife is a licensed life guard!!! ah,ah ah.
